Syniad Innovations’ 3R Circuits Achieves Major Milestone with Groundbreaking Nickel Laterite Processing Patent Application

Vancouver, BC – June 19th, 2023 – Syniad Innovations Inc. (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that 3R Circuits (“3RC”), its mineral processing venture, has successfully filed its first patent application.

The application relates to novel biochemical methods of processing nickel laterites and contains 142 distinct claims. Today’s announcement marks the culmination of a considerable effort to build the experimental evidence that validates the team’s breakthroughs.

Laterites contain over 70% of the world’s nickel reserves but are notoriously difficult to process, with some of the mining industry’s highest CAPEX, OPEX and Carbon costs. In comparison, the 3RC approach has the potential to radically reduce these costs and to recover nickel in situ without many of the environmental negatives that have made nickel mining so complex.

Nickel is a strategic metal of increasing criticality to the world’s economy.  Nickel-based batteries offer the highest energy density in the market.  By 2025, nickel-containing batteries will represent 58% of all batteries (up from 39% in 2016).  As a result, there is a global imperative to ensure that nickel is extracted efficiently and responsibly from the earth.
