Vancouver, June 8th, 2023– Anodyne Chemistries, a Syniad Innovations venture, is delighted to announce its EZ-Methanol project has been awarded grant funding from the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE).
EZ-Methanol is the company’s low-carbon methanol, produced sustainably and without polluting emissions. Anodyne’s innovative bio-electric process uses engineered enzymes and electricity to produce chemicals from carbon dioxide and is based on breakthroughs in synthetic biology and electrochemistry.
“We are thrilled to receive funding approval to accelerate our EZ-Methanol project,” said Dr. Iain Evans, CEO of Anodyne. “Working with nature, rather than against it, we’ve invented technology that mimics photosynthesis to utilize as much CO2 as possible. Using only renewable resources, we take the best nature has to offer and apply it in a bigger, faster, and more efficient way to produce impurity-free alcohols, leaving only oxygen and water as by-products. Our goal is to scale our technology and apply our approach to decarbonize chemical production, transforming current production practices into carbon-negative standards.”
Anodyne’s bio-electric process has the potential to decarbonize the chemicals sector by producing sustainable products from carbon emissions. By leveraging enzymatic pathways, Anodyne aims to substantially impact decarbonization efforts, not only in British Columbia but also on a global scale.
“Anodyne’s unique bio-electrical process presents a highly innovative way to produce organic chemicals from carbon dioxide that will make e-fuels cheaper, lower energy input requirements, and transform CO₂ waste into new revenue streams. This made-in-B.C. technology has incredible potential to scale and synthesize needed industrial chemicals in Canada and around the world. CICE is excited to fund this project and advance the company towards this objective.” – Ged Mclean, Executive Director of the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy
Anodyne extends its gratitude to the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy for their confidence in the company’s vision and commitment to driving positive change. With this funding, Anodyne is determined to advance its ground-breaking EZ-Methanol and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
