Vancouver, British Columbia – July 17th, 2024: Syniad Innovations Inc. (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that Brokkr Mineral Resources Corporation (“Brokkr”) has made two senior appointments to its Scientific Advisory Board.
Professor David Fowle is the Dean’s Professor and Chair of the Department of Geology at the University of Kansas. He has over 30 years of experience in microbial-mineral interactions, bio-geochemistry and bio-leaching including several long-term R&D projects with Global Fortune 500 mineral resource companies. He received his PhD in civil engineering and geological sciences from the University of Notre Dame and was a Canada Research Chairholder at the University of Windsor (Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research) before moving to the University of Kansas in 2006, where his current research focuses on the links between microorganisms and critical mineral resources and hydrogen storage.
Professor Jeffrey Gralnick obtained his PhD in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to conduct post-doctoral research at Caltech in geo-microbiology. He joined the University of Minnesota in 2005, becoming a full professor in 2018 and was elected to the American Academy of Microbiology in 2022. His highly-cited research is based on understanding iron metabolism of environmental bacteria and how they can be utilised in a range of different industrial applications.
Commenting on the appointments, Sean Crowe, Brokkr’s CEO said, “Professors Fowle and Gralnick are internationally recognised experts in geo-biochemistry. They have made a considerable investment of time learning about Brokkr’s technology and it’s a real coup to be able to welcome them to the company. For a young company like Brokkr, it’s a privilege to have this calibre of expertise at our disposal.”
About Brokkr Mineral Resources Corporation
Brokkr develops easy-to-adapt solutions for mineral processing in complex ore bodies and low-grade deposits. Using selective peptide binding technologies paired with bioleaching solutions, Brokkr extracts and processes metals needed for clean energy systems without disrupting the current mining processes. Brokkr’s solutions have been validated at the bench scale with high recovery rates across several different metals. Extensive testing, to date, implies that Brokkr solutions provide a cost-effective alternative to current mineral processing techniques that would enable the recovery of strategic metals from low-grade and high-grade ores with reduced GHG emissions and lower overall environmental risk.
