Vancouver, BC – May 29th, 2023 – Syniad Innovations Inc. (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that portfolio company 3R Circuits (“3RC”) has appointed Professor Ed Asselin to chair its advisory board.
Professor Asselin, who became a member of the advisory board last year, is a leading researcher in the field of hydrometallurgy at UBC and is also one of the co-inventors of the Jetti process for primary sulphide deposits (the “holy grail” of the copper mining industry).
Commenting on his appointment, Professor Asselin said, “I’ve been tracking developments at 3RC for over a year, and the technical progress has been encouraging. The team is obviously going after a very significant, complex challenge, namely the environmentally responsible processing of nickel laterites. Assuming the results we already see prove scalable, then the platform has the potential to dramatically reduce the CAPEX of bringing laterite deposits into production.”
Rachel Simister, 3RC’s president, said, “We’re by no means the finished article, and we have some hard work ahead of us. However, having the support of a high calibre advisory board, chaired by Ed, is an immense advantage to help us meet our milestones.”
ABOUT 3R Circuits
3RC develops easy-to-adapt solutions for mineral processing in complex ore bodies and low-grade deposits. Using selective peptide binding technologies paired with bioleaching solutions, 3RC extracts and processes metals needed for clean energy systems without disrupting the current mining processes. 3RC’s solutions have been validated at the bench scale with high recovery rates across several different metals. Extensive testing, to date, implies that 3RC solutions provide a cost-effective alternative to current mineral processing techniques that would enable the recovery of strategic metals from low-grade and high-grade ores with reduced GHG emissions and lower overall environmental risk. 3RC is currently scaling up its solutions and expects to begin pilot plant operations soon after.
