VANCOUVER, BC, October 1, 2021 – Syniad Innovations Inc. (“Syniad”) today announced the appointment of Frédéric Francis to the post of SVP Computational Sciences. Fred most recently served as CEO of Imagia Cybernetics Inc., a global leader in artificial intelligence for medical imaging and image-guided oncology. He brings a wealth of domain expertise in AI-guided simulation and has a passion for research, innovation, and commercialization.
At Syniad, Fred will lead the identification of investment opportunities in the domain of the computational sciences, especially within the fields of AI, quantum computation and simulation technologies. He will serve on the boards of selected Syniad companies. Fred will be involved in strategic aspects of Syniad’s development, including expanding our operational footprint in Quebec and Ontario.

Frédéric is a deep-tech entrepreneur with 25 years of experience in medical and computational technology start-ups. Formerly, Frédéric was CEO of Imagia Cybernetics Inc., a healthcare AI company developing digital biomarkers to predict and personalize patient outcomes. He was CEO of Harmonic Medical, a developer of next-generation focused ultrasound therapy for uterine fibroids. Previously, he was the Founder and CEO of Resonant Medical, a leader in 3D ultrasound image-guided prostate & breast cancer radiotherapy, acquired by Elekta (EKTA). In 1994, he co-founded Lateral Logic (now CM-Labs and Oryx Simulations), which pioneered real-time rigid-body dynamics for visual simulation & virtual prototyping, whose physics software is still widely used in industry and academia. He serves as Board Chairman of Noctem Health, the leader in digital therapeutics for behavioural sleep disorders. He holds a Physics BSc from McGill University.
