Syniad Innovations’ Venture, 3R Circuits Provides Technical Update

Vancouver, BC – October 30th, 2023 – Syniad Innovations Inc. (“Syniad”) is pleased to report that its venture, 3R Circuits Solutions Corp. (“3RC”), has made more positive progress with respect to its nickel processing chemistry.

3RC is developing a suite of biochemistry tools to address fundamental challenges in the mineral processing industry. Its most advanced programme is “Brokkr,” a pH-neutral bioleach solution for nickel laterite deposits for the production of battery-grade nickel. Laterites are notoriously associated with upfront CAPEX in the billions of dollars, but the Brokkr process has the potential to reduce that CAPEX figure by some 90%.

Over the last quarter, the team at 3RC has been working to build confidence around its experimental data and is seeing results that continue to confirm excellent recovery rates from laterite materials. Nickel recovery rates are at 80%, and co-located Cobalt recovery is close to 100% (better than previously reported). Importantly, the Brokkr reaction kinetics are also impressive, consistently outperforming existing acid-leach methods.

There are so many reasons why this goal is important. Reducing the up-front costs of bringing strategic metals into the market is one factor, but we also need to do this with reduced environmental impact, and the pH-neutral Brokkr process achieves this. Our most recent results on reaction kinetics indicate that our bioleach cycle times are much shorter than we originally expected—another huge positive outcome.”
