VANCOUVER, BC, July 1, 2019 – Syniad Innovations Inc (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that building on its previous engagement with RUCBC; it has accepted a new mandate from RUCBC to establish and convene a working group focused on Digital Research Infrastructure in BC.
Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) investment in Canada has primarily focused on advanced research computing and storage, with some investments more recently being made in data management and advanced research software. While the needs of BC research institutions are represented in some areas of DRI through BCNET and WestGRID, there is no organization representing the overarching interests of BC across all components of Canada’s DRI system”.
Syniad’s CIO, Iain Evans, commented, “I’m delighted to further our work with RUCBC and its member universities in digital technologies. This is a natural extension of the work we have done to help establish the Supercluster, focusing efforts on the enabling infrastructure needed to keep BC and Canada at the forefront of research and innovation using digital technologies”.
