• Important new relationship between the German Aerospace Agency and UBC
• Significant research opportunities opened for UBC’s Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Cluster
VANCOUVER, BC, September 1, 2016 – Syniad Innovations Inc (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that it has helped its client – UBC’s Advanced Materials & Manufacturing Research Cluster (“AMM”) – launch an important new research relationship with Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (“DLR”), the German Aerospace Agency.
UBC has a sustained history of excellence in advanced manufacturing research, especially in the simulation and modelling technologies required to bring new, hugely complex products to market. In 2015, Syniad was instrumental in establishing AMM as a research excellence cluster on campus and today’s announcement is one of the first fruits of that positioning. This new relationship with DLR is premised on shared research challenges in the future of flight, especially in lightweight materials (alloys and composite materials) and additive manufacturing. It confirms AMM as an internationally significant source of expertise in these fields. The partnership will be known as DLR@UBC.
Syniad’s CEO, John Davies, commented, “It’s great to see AMM take strides on the international stage like this. This relationship has started with fantastic scientific alignment, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support its development in the future”.
