September 30, 2022, Vancouver, British Columbia – Syniad Innovations Inc (“Syniad”) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sage Berryman as an Independent Director.
Sage has 15 years of C-suite experience, across a broad range of sectors, focused on leading businesses to and through multiple corporate transactions (for an aggregate deal value of over $4 billion). Throughout the course of her career, she has focused on creating sustainable bottom-line value by prioritizing clear strategic outcomes, building the teams to execute that strategy and ultimately, defining transaction structures that are beneficial for all parties involved.
Prior to joining Syniad, Sage served as the co-CEO of the Ralmax Group of Companies, a diversified group of 11 (predominantly engineering) businesses centred around the West Coast’s maritime industry. Previously she was the founder and Chair of Q5 Innovations which specialized in sourcing photonic and optical technologies for commercialization. She served as a board member for VIATEC, Victoria’s technology and innovation community for 4 years and as an advisory board member for the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business for 3 years. For a decade she has served as a director of Coast Funds, a not-for-profit dedicated to empowering First Nations to achieve healthy and vibrant economies and communities.
Sage has also been recognized for her successes in building prosperity through business with a number of awards including winning BC’s Top 40 under 40, BC’s Top Influential Women in Business Award, being a finalist for the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliances Peter Brojde Award for Canada’s next generation executive leadership and being recognized by the Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Association for the Innovative Excellence Award for business process.
“It’s great to be in a position to bring Sage on board,” says Syniad Chairman, Martin Cronin. “She has a long-term interest in the Canadian innovation system and developing new ways of creating value from Canadian research. She has a deeply impressive record of business leadership and business governance in multi-stakeholder environments, which will stand us in great stead. Sage’s appointment brings to a conclusion a search process that Syniad initiated in 2021. I am incredibly proud of the calibre of independent directors that we have been able to bring into the business and feel extremely confident that we have succeeded in our goal of constituting an experienced, enthusiastic leadership team to guide Syniad into an exciting future.”
