VANCOUVER, BC, January 4, 2018 – Syniad Innovations Inc (“Syniad”) is pleased to announce that the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing research cluster at UBC (“AMM”) has secured strategic expansion funding. The funding from the Province of BC will be used to make 14 new professorial hires at UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, significantly augmenting AMM’s existing research and training capabilities.
AMM is a research excellence cluster at UBC that has been at the forefront of materials modelling for over 30 years. UBC has an international reputation in this domain based on the seminal work of luminaries such as Professor Keith Brimacombe and Professor Indira Samarasekera, both recipients of the Order of Canada. This new funding announcement will enable a new generation of researchers to pursue breakthrough research into the lightweight, sustainable products of the future.
John Davies, Syniad’s CEO, commented, “Syniad’s work with AMM has been a wonderfully productive partnership. This news reflects the work of great people and professionals. It opens a new chapter in advanced materials and manufacturing research at UBC – it will be a chapter that marries breakthrough simulation and modelling research with experimental and industrial validation. Congratulations to all concerned.”
