VANCOUVER, BC, October 29, 2021 – Syniad Innovations Inc (“Syniad”) is pleased to report that 3R Circuits (“3RC”) has made significant strides towards validating critical elements of its green mineral processing chemistry.
3RC’s underlying technology is based on entirely novel approaches and designed to processing complex ore bodies on-site, with significantly lower costs and reduced carbon and other environmental impacts. Ultimately, 3RC’s endpoint is to unlock previously intractable or uneconomic strategic metal deposits.
3RC’s focus so far has been on nickel laterites, a geology that hosts over 70% of the world’s nickel but has proved enormously expensive in CAPEX terms to convert into production. Notoriously, nickel laterite processing is also associated with some of the highest carbon costs in the industry. In laboratory trials, 3RC’s proprietary solution is now delivering greater than 70%+ nickel recovery from laterite samples. As a result, 3RC has now committed to a programme of scale-up experiments that will complete in the first quarter of 2023 as a precursor to moving into field trials.
Commenting on today’s announcement, John Davies, Syniad’s CEO, said, “It’s great to see these outstanding technical results come through from 3RC. Strategic metals will become the new geopolitical challenge of our time as the world moves from a hydrocarbon-intensive to a metal-intensive electrification system. The mining industry has started to see the emergence of novel mineral processing technologies, especially in copper and lithium circuits. 3RC’s focus on nickel laterites is a genuine differentiator, with a huge potential impact for electric vehicle production.”
