Anodyne is an industrial biotechnology company focusing on the sustainable production of chemicals. Anodyne delivers chemicals using a highly selective, low temperature method that is both carbon and energy efficient.
Anodyne is founded on transformative bio-chemistry developed by Manou Davies, and her high school chemistry tutor, Robert Greene. Combining enzyme immobilization with a novel electron transfer mechanism, the team has been effective in replacing fossil fuels as both feedstock and energy source for a range of chemicals and fuels used to manufacture plastic bags, toys, cancer drugs and food ingredients.
Investment opportunity
- Anodyne is differentiated by its productivity and sustainability relative to homogeneous catalysts
- Anodyne enables low temperature, high selectivity synthesis for a range of chemicals that are used to manufacture plastics, detergents, pharmaceuticals and fuels
Unmet need:
- A low cost immobilization system that enhances the productivity
of enzymes to outcompete soluble metal catalysts
Market opportunity:
- Polymers ($700B)
- Active Pharma Ingredients ($166B)
- Plastics ($520B)
- Agrochemicals ($55B)
Key risks:
- Multiple players and highly competitive niches space
- Highly innovative concept in emerging
- Strategy for differentiation and commercial positioning
